Aquatic Facilities

Aquatic centers and swimming pools can provide communities with an amenity which not only benefits the public’s need for aquatic recreation but can provide a place where “community” is created. Problems occur when the aquatic facility cannot operate because its systems do not function properly. For example, no one seems to understand why the filter is not working or why parts of the pool are not meeting public health standards.

Whitaker Engineering provides the expertise with a personal touch to meet the challenges of any aquatic circulation system. Staff members have designed filters and helped develop gutter systems which have been approved by NSF. Our technical evaluations identify the strengths and weaknesses of the system and propose lasting solutions. We are independent from equipment manufacturers but can communicate in their “language” to select equipment that works in your facility.

Several factors and questions should be considered in designing new facilities or renovating existing facilities. Does the existing system meet current standards? Can equipment be added to the existing facilities to improve operations? Has the use of the facility changed, so that facility systems no longer match current use? Are filters receiving adequate backwash and maintenance?

Whitaker Engineering’s greatest strength is its ability to plan for the future for its clients. Technical evaluations and informed system design and construction promote sound decisions and help budget for future system improvements and maintenance.
