Wastewater

Wastewater systems are one of the primary foundations of any community. The wastewater system protects public health, improves the quality of life and investment in the community, and is the foundation for economic growth. An inadequate or under-sized wastewater system will exclude a utility or community from economic growth, limiting the tax base and job opportunities for the area.

Several challenges must be met to keep a system functioning properly. Infiltration and stormwater must be limited, controlled, and removed from the collection system. State and federal regulations require specific steps be taken over a period of time to improve the collection system. These requirements are often contained in a community’s long-term control plan for combined sewers or in its NPDES permit conditions.

Whitaker Engineering provides the expertise with a personal touch to meet the challenges to any wastewater system. Staff members use traditional engineering capabilities with new technology, including GIS, to give any utility or community the best information available about its wastewater system. These approaches have won engineering, and GIS Awards.

Whitaker Engineering has experience with sewer collection systems of all sizes and offers its clients the technical foundation for a successful project. Its staff has designed sewer improvements and large interceptors and lift stations with capacities from 50 gallons per minute to 50,000,000 gallons per day.

Whitaker Engineering designs and manages wastewater treatment plant construction. Staff members have actually constructed wastewater treatment facilities, giving Whitaker Engineering a unique perspective on effective planning, design, and construction.

Whitaker Engineering’s greatest strength is its ability to plan for the future for its clients. Its staff has master planned wastewater systems covering over 60 square miles. Its master plans have been successfully implemented in some of the highest growth areas in the nation. Its clients benefit from the economic growth and the stable utility rates which result from great planning and implementation.
