Water

Water systems and water quality are critical to protecting public health and maintaining the quality of life in the community. Water systems along with wastewater systems provide the foundation for economic growth.

Several challenges must be met to keep a system functioning properly. Raw water supplies must be protected and wellhead protection plans must be followed to ensure that supplies retain the quality needed to protect public health. Treatment and storage facilities must be maintained and improved to offer the public drinking water supplies that meet and exceed state and federal standards.

State and federal regulations require specific steps be taken over a period of time to improve the quality of the water delivered to the public. A community or utility must maintain its facilities to treat, to distribute, and to store its drinking water to meet existing and new regulations for water quality.

Whitaker Engineering provides the expertise with a personal touch to meet the challenges to any water system. Staff members use traditional engineering capabilities with new technology, including GIS and computer modeling software, to give any utility or community the best information available about its water system. These approaches have won engineering and GIS Awards. Whitaker Engineering has experience with distribution systems of all sizes and offers its clients the technical foundation for a successful project.

Whitaker Engineering’s staff has managed water treatment plant construction and renovation. The staff has designed new water storage facilities up to a capacity of 620 ac-ft. Staff members have modeled entire community water distribution systems to properly size and locate water mains and storage facilities for improved service and fire protection.

Whitaker Engineering’s greatest strength is its ability to plan for the future for its clients. Master plans promote economic growth and help budget for future system improvements and maintenance. Its clients have benefited from the economic growth and the stable utility rates which result from great planning and implementation.
